McCain Works Well Across the Aisle But Can He Work With Republicans?

Written by JB Williams

Being best buds with the likes of Teddy Kennedy, Hillary Clinton and Barrack Hussein Obama might buy you a few Independent votes, but it won’t do much for your core conservative constituents.

Nobody in America has worked harder to avoid a McCain nomination than I have. But despite all the efforts of 62.4 percent of Republicans who voted against McCain in the Republican primaries, he is looking more like the RNC nominee every day, as candidate after candidate leaves the GOP race and throws their support to McCain.

Now, with only 37.6 percent of the Republican vote, some of which isn’t actually Republican, coming instead from liberal Democrats and Independents in open primary states, it seems McCain will have an up hill battle to the Oval Office. Instead of reminding voters how well he has worked with liberals in the past, he might consider coming up with a few reasons why Republicans should vote for him.

A Call to Unite

McCain clearly has liberal and moderate Republicans wrapped up, which apparently accounts for approximately 37.6 percent of the Republican Party. No candidate can win a national election with only 37.6 percent of his own party behind him. So all RNC efforts are now focused on telling the other 62.4 percent of the party that they must unite behind McCain in opposition to an alternative worse than McCain, Hillary Clinton, or worse yet, Barrack Hussein Obama.

But the 62.4 percent of Republicans who voted against McCain in the primaries seem to be saying, “Not so fast Sen. McAmnesty!” When Republican stalwarts like Rush or David Limbaugh and Ann Coulter vow to fight McCain all the way to November, you know you have a serious problem on your hands.

The need for Republicans to unite in order to defeat both Clinton and Obama is so obvious that it hardly deserves mention. But that being the case, the RNC should have allowed a stronger Republican candidate to emerge so that all Republicans could vote FOR that candidate, instead of just against Clinton and Obama.

Core Conservative Principles Stand in the Way

Much has been written about the many shades of gray that now make up the Republican electorate. Those at the base of the party, who still believe in those old conservative founding values of Life, Liberty, Freedom, Sovereignty and Security, are often now referred to as only an extreme right-wing fringe faction of the party.

Yet, this allegedly small faction of so-called extremists makes up a large portion of the 62.4 percent of the party who voted against McCain; -- maybe even the majority of that group. The fringe faction may not be as small as alleged by RNC friends in the MSM.

It is these folks who are now being accused of threatening the McCain campaign and the future of the Republican Party, on the basis that they are all hung up on their conservative values and principles and fail to grasp the notion that the Republican Party is more important than all of those values combined. They refuse to “calm down” and get in line and it is driving the party powers insane. Desperate times call for desperate measures I’m afraid.

Principles Can Either Unite or Divide

At the moment, the Republican Party is divided down ideological lines. On one side are those who believe in some, but not all conservative principles and values. These folks call themselves moderates, usually due to their liberal social stances.

On the other side are those who hold all founding conservative principles and values dear, be they fiscal, security or social. They make no distinction between social, security and fiscal conservatism, seeing them all as interconnected and inter-dependent. These folks call themselves conservatives and they are willing to go to the mat in defense of those principles.

Core Republicans are unhappy with McCain’s history. McCain has a history of working across the political aisle, often at odds with his own constituency. Engaged Republicans are aware of this reality and they do not have confidence in McCain as a result.

It’s not right-wing extremists who stand between McCain and his quest for the White House. It’s the fundamental values of the Republican Party, which McCain has too often found himself at odds with. This will have to be resolved if the party is to unite behind him in the fall and the RNC can no longer expect voters to hold their nose and ignore those values. They’ve accommodated that request in the past and have paid a heavy price.

McCain will have to Meet them More than Halfway

To be fair, McCain is conservative on many issues. (per On the Issues)

  • Opposes -- Abortion is a woman's right
  • Favors -- Teacher-led prayer in public schools
  • Strongly Favors -- Privatize Social Security
  • Strongly Favors -- Death Penalty
  • Strongly Favors -- Mandatory Three Strikes sentencing laws
  • Strongly Favors -- Absolute right to gun ownership
  • Opposes -- Repeal tax cuts on wealthy -- Even as he recently voted against making Bush’s tax cuts permanent.
  • Strongly Opposes -- The Patriot Act harms civil liberties
  • Favors -- Expand the armed forces
  • Strongly Opposes -- U.S. out of Iraq
  • Strongly Favors -- Drug use is immoral: enforce laws against it
  • Strongly Favors -- Allow churches to provide welfare services

But to be honest, he also has some severe problems with more than 60 percent of Republicans on some other very important issues of our time.

  • Favors -- Replace coal & oil with alternatives -- He has bought hook, line and sinker into Al Gore’s Global Warming Scam, which is little more than a poorly veiled attempt to bring America to its economic knees.
  • Favors -- Stricter limits on political campaign funds -- Considered by many Republicans to be a direct assault against free political speech.
  • Strongly Favors -- Support & expand free trade -- Missing however, the vital ingredients of “fair” free trade aimed at benefiting Americans more than third world dictatorships, and expanding fair free trade without relinquishing national sovereignty or security.
  • Favors -- Illegal immigrants earn citizenship -- This one earned him the nickname Sen. McAmnesty. He says he now understands that we must close and secure the border first. But Amnesty for those already here is an idea he has not given up on.
  • Favors -- More federal funding for health coverage -- He supports increased welfare in the form of federal socialized health care, just not complete government controlled socialized medicine like his Democrat buds.

  • Favors -- Same-sex domestic partnership benefits -- which means, he supports giving homosexual’s equal moral, social, legal and economic status with the foundational moral fabric of any successful society, the traditional family unit.

Perhaps the two most important issues McCain must find a way to unite with conservatives on is national sovereignty and security.

Convincing conservatives that he is serious about winning the war against international terrorism and defending the safety and sovereignty of the United States is all but impossible at this point.

So long as he remains firm in his position in favor of open borders and legalized illegal immigration, and refuses to recognize that the only people on earth who can tell us when and where the next 9/11 will happen must be interrogated by any means available, because we are “at war” with people who seek to kill millions of innocent American citizens and bring America to its knees, convincing conservatives will remain impossible.

Being tough on terror in Iraq is one thing. But refusing to be tough on terrorists at home is quite another.

Party Unity Over American Principles, at Any Cost?

Republicans, conservatives in particular, have been told to sit their principles and values aside and do what’s best for the party many times in the past and the result has always been the same.

A more gradual slide into the leftist abyss of Democratic Socialism with more social spending, more deficits, more taxation without representation, and less freedom, liberty, security or national sovereignty for the governed. In short, more federal power and less personal freedom.

These are the very values conservatives are no longer willing to compromise on, even in the name of party unity.

To be sure, both Clinton and Obama would indeed be worse than McCain in all regards. There can’t be any real doubt about that in the mind of any informed Republican.

In the past, before two Bush Presidents turned on conservatives after the election and the Republican controlled congress failed to act any different than a Democrat controlled congress, this alone might have been enough to get conservatives into the booth for McCain.

Today, It Will Take More

Republicans spent 40 years as the minority party in congress. It took Newt Gingrich and his Contract with America to convince American voters that finally, somebody was serious about representing the true will of the American majority and the minute they were convinced, the nation rallied around that idea and placed Republicans in control of both houses of congress for the first time in 40 years.

Of course, once Newt was gone, it took liberal and moderate Republicans only 12 years to convince those same voters that they were not really up to the task, and Republicans allowed Democrats to take both houses back in 2006 as a result.

Now it is twice as hard to convince conservative voters that Republican candidates, especially like McCain, mean anything they say. The highest priority for all pro-American voters in 2008 must be keeping both Barrack Hussein Obama and Hillary Rotten Clinton far from the Oval Office. But it will take more than that to get conservative voters into the booth for McCain.

A Contract with McCain is in Order

Styled after Gingrich’s Contract with America and based on the same pro-American values, McCain is going to have to make a Contract with Republicans based on all conservative values, if he hopes to gain their support by November.

It is no longer enough to toss out rhetorical promises easy to break after the election is over. Frankly, Hillary is facing much of the same challenge with Democrats that McCain faces with Republicans. Both have a career long resume full of broken promises with their constituents. Obama is favored right now simply because he has no resume at all, therefore, no resume of broken promises yet, with the emphasis on yet…

If McCain is serious about becoming president, he will have to come up with a realistic means of convincing the majority of Republicans who voted against him in the primaries, that he is serious about representing the same principles and values that they believe in, or they will have little or no reason to vote for him in November.

McCain needs to come up with a solidly unapologetic Contract with Republicans, much like the Gingrich Contract with America, and soon.

His campaign and the RNC can wrestle the nomination away from all conservatives through the primary process, but that is no way to get those same voters behind you in November.

In fact, the more screwed the Republican electorate feels through the primary process, and believe me, they are feeling more screwed by the minute, the more difficult it will become to get them into the booth in November.

McCain must do something tangible and he must do it fast. If he fails to grasp the severity of his problem, he will suffer a landslide defeat in November and America will be at the mercy of one of the two most unqualified individuals to ever seek the Oval Office.

The ball is really in his court. If he wants the party to unite, he will have to do something real to unite it.

Democratic Socialism?

Not My America - Not on My Watch!

Written by JB Williams

©2007 USA

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, So help me God.”

In January of every odd-numbered year, those newly elected or re-elected Congressmen - the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate - must recite the above quoted oath of office.

To support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; is to at all times by all means, uphold, promote and preserve the founding principles outlined in the ratified founding documents, including the Constitution.

To bear true faith and allegiance to the same; is at all times and by all means, to act in a manner which demonstrates true faith and allegiance to those principles.

To do any less, is a clear violation of the oath of office and those who fail to well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office; must be removed from office and face the wrath of the God who created every American citizen as a free, equal, self-governed individual, and endowed them with certain specific unalienable right’s to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness though personal achievement.

Democratic Socialism?

Is this what our founding documents guarantee every American? Is this the America the founding fathers envisioned or designed? Are these the principles America was founded or built upon and are they the ideas every member of congress is sworn to support and defend? Or are they the ideas of a foreign and domestic enemy, that every member of congress took an oath to defend the people against?

Not My America!

Taken directly from the Democratic Socialist of America  web site

· Democratic Socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs.

· Democratic Socialists do not want to create an all-powerful government bureaucracy. But we do not want big corporate bureaucracies to control our society either. Resources are used to make money for capitalists rather than to meet human needs. Social ownership could take many forms, such as worker-owned cooperatives or publicly owned enterprises managed by workers and consumer representatives.

· In the short term we can’t eliminate private corporations, but we can bring them under greater democratic control. The government could use regulations and tax incentives to encourage companies to act in the public interest and outlaw destructive activities such as exporting jobs to low-wage countries and polluting our environment.

· Most of all, socialists look to unions to make private business more responsible.

· Although no country has fully instituted democratic socialism, the socialist parties and labor movements of other countries have won many victories for their people. We can learn from the comprehensive welfare state maintained by the Swedes, from Canada’s national health care system, France’s nationwide childcare program, and Nicaragua’s literacy programs.

· We are not a separate party from the Democratic Party. Like our friends and allies in the feminist, labor, civil rights, religious, and community organizing movements, many of us have been active in the Democratic Party. We work with those movements to strengthen the party’s left wing, represented by the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

· Although capitalism will be with us for a long time, reforms we win now—raising the minimum wage, securing a national health plan, and demanding passage of right-to-strike legislation—can bring us closer to socialism. Many democratic socialists actively work in the single-issue organizations that advocate for those reforms. We are visible in the reproductive freedom movement, the fight for student aid, gay and lesbian organizations, anti-racist groups, and the labor movement.

· Schools, Colleges and Universities are important to American political culture. They are the places where ideas are formulated and policy discussed and developed. Being an active part of that discussion is a critical job for young socialists. We have to work hard to change people’s misconceptions about socialism.

· We call ourselves socialists because we are proud of what we are. No matter what we call ourselves, conservatives will use it against us. Anti-socialism has been repeatedly used to attack reforms that shift power to working class people and away from corporate capital.

Are these the principles and values every member of congress is obligated to under their oath of office? Or are these the very ideas the founders warned us about, that every member of congress is sworn to protect and defend the nation against?

Who is the  Congressional Progressive Caucus?

The Congressional Progressive Caucus is made up of Democrat members of congress that are also members of and represent the agenda of, the Democratic Socialists of America. 67 House members and 1 Senate member belong to this group. Together, they work from within the halls of congress to advance the agenda of the Democratic Socialists of America. This is not some silly conspiracy theory. This is fact. It’s out in the open. They no longer see a need to hide beneath the other names, liberal, progressive, socially conscious or Democrat. The American people no longer fear socialism. Many now openly embrace it.

This is The Core Of The Enemy Within!

As public members of the Democratic Socialists of America, the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Democrat Party, these representatives of the people are using “democratic” tools and patriotic sounding politically correct and socially conscious labels to sell socialism to Americans via a constitutional process.

But they do so at odds with every founding American principle and in violation of their oath of office, which demands that they use all available means to defend America against the very ideas they are openly promoting. It’s vital to America’s future that every American learns the name of these members and work to remove all of them from office by any means available.

“Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends [Life, Liberty and Freedom], it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it;” It is in fact, our duty to alter or abolish such a government.

Not on My Watch!

The founders and the generations of patriots that came before me, left to me an America that respected above all else, an unalienable God given right to Life, individual Liberty and personal Freedom to pursue individual Happiness through personal achievement in a free-market system of self-governance.

It will not become the tyrannical socialist welfare state that so many Americans died to protect our generation from. Not on my watch!

The 2008 Election

What does Democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton mean when she says…

· “We are going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” June 29th of ‘04
· “It’s time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, for the few, and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity.” May 29th of ‘07
· “We can’t just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people.” June 4th of ‘07

Hillary Clinton has the support of 47% of Democrat voters. Are they all Democratic Socialists? Or are they just well indoctrinated Americans who have been taught over the years, to vote themselves into tyranny by attempting to vote themselves favor from the general treasury?

There is no more debate. Today’s Democrat Party is run by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which represents the core power-brokers of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Today’s Democrat Party is funded largely by a cabal of anti-American international socialists, through an endless list of 527 political action committees such as America Coming Together , Joint Victory Campaign 2004* , Media Fund , Progress for America  and MoveOn.org . Clearly, today’s Democrat Party is NOT the party of JFK, FDR or Truman. Obviously, today’s “liberals” are by no means Jefferson liberals. They are undeniably Marxists. The debate is over. McCarthy’s conspiracy theory has become an American reality.

Democratic Socialism? - Not my America! – Not on my watch!

How much more evidence does the average American voter need, before they will take action against the enemy within? Our troops will deal with all foreign enemies. American voters must deal with our domestic enemies.

What’s your plan for stopping all of this in 2008?

America

Land of the Ignorant

Home of the Spineless Quitter!

 ©2007 USA

 Written by JB Williams

Has America given up on America ? Have voters quit and left their nation in the hands of despotic politicians seeking power and fortune for themselves at the expense of America ’s future?

If fat, lazy, over-indulgent American voters don’t actively educate themselves beyond their daily dose of anti-Americanism oozing 24/7 from every Secular Socialist Democrat and their leftist press, they will soon find themselves living under the boot of Marxist brown shirts eager to enslave every American for a greater common good

You think I’m kidding or extreme? Think again, and this time, think using facts!

America always has a long list of priorities.

Bringing the war against international jihad to a successful conclusion is high on that list. But it will take years to accomplish and electing people that will remain steadfast in their resolve to that end, is all that matters in the 2008 election cycle. Don’t worry - our troops will handle all foreign enemies. It’s the American voter must rise to the challenge of dealing with the enemy within, at the ballot box.

Securing our borders and solving the illegal immigration problem is key to defending the homeland against future terror attacks. Keeping the economy going in order to fund our priorities without raising taxes is also important. Defending Life, Liberty and the right to pursue Happiness, is always high on the list of things to do. But none of these things top the list of priorities in 2008.

THE issue of 2008!

Democratic Secular Socialism vs. Old Fashioned Americanism is the primary issue being decided in the 2008 election and the outcome of this decision will directly and immediately impact all other outstanding issues. All other issues pale by comparison!

What is Democratic Secular Socialism?

In a word, it’s the modern day version of self-induced communism. A movement designed to introduce communist principles, values and policies into America , by way of democratic process.

Too strong a definition for your liking? Tough! Only the truth can set America free now and the truth is getting harder to find by the day. Bury your partisan hatchet in the back of some lying politician and focus on the facts for a few minutes.

Communist, Socialist, Progressive and Democrat, are now just four different names for the same thing. They all share the exact same belief systems, the same political agendas, the same national policies and the same national leaders as a result. I defy any Democrat to define the difference between these four groups today.

Meet The Democratic Socialists of America [1]. In their own words, “The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly socialist presence in American communities and politics.”

To fully educate yourself on this group, read their entire Questions and Answers from the

Democratic Socialists of America [2] pdf file. Save it, read it and send it to all of your friends and family. This is the number one threat to America today.

For now, here’s the most important statement in that Q&A document.

Q - Aren’t you a party that’s in competition with the Democratic Party for votes and support?

A - No, we are not a separate party. Like our friends and allies in the feminist, labor, civil rights, religious, and community organizing movements, many of us have been active in the Democratic Party. We work with those movements to strengthen the party’s left wing, represented by the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

The process and structure of American elections seriously hurts third party efforts. Winner-take-all elections instead of proportional representation, rigorous party qualification requirements that vary from state to state, a presidential instead of a parliamentary system and the two-party monopoly on political power have doomed third party efforts. Maybe sometime in the future, in coalition with our allies, an alternative national party will be viable. For now, we will continue to support progressives who have a real chance at winning elections, which usually means left-wing Democrats.

What is their agenda?

As you will soon come to understand in undeniable terms, today’s Democrat Party is already outlining and promoting their agenda, under new “politically correct” and socially acceptable terminology. Their agenda is Democratic Secular Socialism for America [4], as defined here in their own words.

Who are these people?

They are many and they are very well organized, including at least twenty-five (25) chartered local offices [5] nationwide. Here’s a short list of key members of your congress which publicly claim membership in and support of, the Democratic Socialists of America.

Senator Bernie Sanders

A few key House Members:

John Conyers

Barney Frank

Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Sheila Jackson-Lee

Dennis Kucinich

Jim McDermott

Jerrold Nadler

Charles Rangel

Maxine Waters

Henry Waxman

In all, 67 members of the people’s House and 1 member of the people’s Senate, all Democrats, are identified by the Democratic Socialist movement as seated congressional members of their movement. But most importantly, here is the list of national leaders for the Democratic Socialist movement, as listed by the movement itself. See link [3] for a complete list.

Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the House

Steny Hoyer
Office of the Majority Leader

Jim Clyburn
Office of the Majority Whip

Rahm Emanuel
Democratic Caucus Chair

2008 DNC Campaign agenda quotes

For those of you still scratching your head in desperate disbelief, read these quotes from the current frontrunner for the Democrat nomination under this new light, with both eyes wide open for a change!

·                                 We are going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”  June 29th of ‘04

·                                 It’s time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, for the few, and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity.” May 29th of ‘07

·                                 We can’t just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people.” June 4th of ‘07

·                                 We have to build a political consensus and that requires people to give up a little bit of their own turf in order to create this common ground.” June 4th of 2007

·                                 I certainly think the free market has failed.” June 4th of ‘07

·                                 I think it’s time to send a clear message to what has become the most profitable sector in the entire economy, that they are being watched.” June 4th of ‘07

·                                 What I want to do is take those profits and apply them to alternative energy.” September 2nd of ‘05

None of these seven statements were made by Karl Marx or Frederick Engels, though all of them echo the ideals of both. These were all stated by New York Senator and Democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. This is your Democrat presidential nominee for 2008… In fact, this is every Democrat in Washington DC today.

The Democrat Campaign Strategy for 2008 [6] – Again, read it, save it, send to every voter you know, because America ’s future hangs in the balance of the people’s ability to educate themselves before November 2008.

THE Issue of 2008!

The only issue of vital concern in the 2008 election is which America we will be from that moment forward. Will we be the land of the free, run by the brave, or will we finish the task of becoming the land of the ignorant and enslaved, home of the spineless quitter?

You see, America ’s problem is simple. Our “greatest generation” gave birth and rise to the “me generation” which would never be satisfied with the limited roll of government established by our founding fathers. Today, the “what can my country do for me” voting bloc now out-numbers the “give me liberty or give me death” voting bloc.

Tell me, how does a “give me liberty or give me death” candidate get elected in a nation full of “what has my country done for me lately” voters?

This is the issue for 2008. This is the challenge for whoever the conservative pro-American candidate is in 2008.

If American voters can no longer answer the question of freedom vs. free-stuff correctly, then it is no longer suited for self-governance.

The American people had better wake up, turn off NPR, PBS and all the alphabet networks, burn their newspapers and Newsweek magazines and start soul searching for the truth before it’s too late.

The wolf isn’t just at our door. It’s already running loose in the halls of congress and our courtrooms across America . They want the White House too, in 2008. I defy any Democrat to define the difference between their agenda and that of modern Socialists or Communists. I dare you to try!

The slumbering giant of true American patriotism had better get up and get busy. The decisions we make will never be any better than the quality of information used to make them. Live by the lies of a leftist press - die by the lies of a leftist press. Or, decide to educate yourself! Time is short…

If American voters study these facts and still get this one wrong, they can’t get anything else right!
